"Tre Cime" means "Three Peaks." We stopped by a visitor's area to view the three peaks from a distance. Just a little more to the right, Drew...
We were able to actually drive part way up one of the peaks to a look-out point.
As soon as we parked the car, Drew took off climbing up the side of the mountain. Normal. And also, the reason why I spent our 4 years in Germany with 2 small kids in a near constant state of high alert. "Where did Drew go?? Oh, he's just climbing that mountain."
| Doesn't it look like we're on the surface of another planet? Very cool topography up here. |
The kids were fascinated by a bunch of icicles that they found hugging the side of the mountain.
After a short time, we headed back to the car. As you can see in the photo below, there was a narrow path along the side of the mountain. We did see people walking along that path, but with no railing, and 2 curious kids, we just couldn't risk it! I breathed a big sigh of relief when we were back at our car.
We didn't want to leave the grounds of the Tre Cime quite yet, so we drove a little ways to a nearby biergarten. Check out this playground!
The next day we headed back home. We drove through some beautiful little towns.
And we drove through some snow, too!
Arrivederci, Italia!
wow, those playgrounds are amazing!
