Sarah and Ted came to visit us! I took them to Tübingen on their second day in town (Jim stayed home with the kids--thanks, Jim! It was a nice break for me.). We visited the church and paid 1 Euro each to view the "chor und turm." I had only seen the outside of the church on our previous visits to Tübingen. The "chor," or choir, is a mausoleum of Baden-Wurrtemberg's rulers from the late 1500s and early 1600s. The detail on the tombs was incredible.

We climbed to the top of the church's "turm" (tower) where we saw a nice view of the city. The narrow spiral staircase up reminded me of the staircase in La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (but fortunately not as high!).
The view at the river is always so pretty.
That night, we had a babysitter so we could go out to dinner sans kids! We took Sarah and Ted to our local biergarten, the Schönbuch Brauhaus, so they could sample some typical Swabisch food, like maultaschen and schweinehaxe. We had dessert at a little Italian restaurant.
On Saturday, we took a day trip to Switzerland to visit the Rhine Falls and Stein am Rhein. There was a miniature steam engine train running in Stein am Rhein that day. Drew was thrilled! It was so cool to see the conductor using a tiny shovel to pour real coal into the engine.
On our way home, we stopped at several scenic overlooks (we are lucky that Jim knows Switzerland so well!). Despite rain in the forecast, it only sprinkled on us a few times. We were glad to be able to get a few family photos.

Another fascinating day! Glad you had fun with Sarah and Ted. I hope they enjoyed the rest of their Euro tour.
