Erica, Carter, and Violet visited us in April. We had a great time showing them a few of our favorite cities in Germany, and visiting a couple new places too! We have hundreds of photos from both of our cameras, so I will just post some of the highlights of our visit:
We loved seeing our kids play together!
William (15 months), Andrew (4), and Violet (18 months)
We stayed close to home for the first couple days while our friends adjusted to the time difference. Sindelfingen has a great daily farmers' market and a beautiful Old Town.
We had a picnic in Esslingen on a gorgeous sunny day and enjoyed the view of the city from above.
We took the train into downtown Stuttgart.
We walked around all the main plazas in Stuttgart, as well as the indoor farmers' market, and then had coffee and cake at an outdoor cafe!
On rainy May 1st, we went to see the May Pole being raised in a nearby town, but missed it by just a few minutes. We checked out a local museum instead.
May pole behind us, see the green leaves/branches at the top?
We went to Frühlingsfest (spring version of Oktoberfest) in Bad Canstatt.
We all had to have a cookie on a string. :)
We took a day trip to Dinklesbühl for a handworkers' market.
This is a new favorite town of ours. It is so picturesque and has less touristy shops than Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
We hiked up to the waterfall in Triberg in the Black Forest
and enjoyed a picnic lunch on the walk back down.
We stopped at Titisee (a lake in the Black Forest) for coffee
and the traditional Schwarzwald (Black Forest) cake.
We took some great photos by the Titisee.
On a rainy Sunday, we visited the Steiff teddy bear museum.
Drew enjoyed the slide, Vi and Wm liked the stuffed animal exhibits, and the adults liked the exhibits about how bears are made.
William was not a fan of the big bear.
Check out Wm and V in this photo--haha!
The kids each picked a Steiff animal to take home. These toys quickly became favorites for all the kids!
We made a quick stop in Ulm to see the tallest cathedral in the world.
The kids liked playtime with the dads
which was fine with us because it gave us time to knit matching brontosauruses!
I'm sure I am leaving things out, but overall, it was a wonderful visit with my friend of 15 years and her family!

to the Black Forest in Germany, we always have fun when we're together! Here's to even more great memories--thanks for visiting us in Germany!

LOVED all these pics!! Especially William and Violet being affectionate (they almost look related!). Was William afraid of that bear you guys were standing in front of?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great summary--I'm having such a hard time trying to narrow down the photos but I love seeing them all in one place like this! Do you mind if I link to this from my blog?
ReplyDeleteVisiting you in Germany was such a great experience--a little bit out of our comfort zone at first but we had such a great time, we didn't want to leave! You were amazing hosts, always making us comfortable and suggesting fun new things to do. Thanks for having us!
Of course, link to it!
